Barth, Conrad (1895? - 29 MAY 1959)
A farm accident took the life of Conrad Barth, 63 year old farmer who lived 10 miles southeast of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) sometime early Friday morning.
Barth has left his farm home about 8 a.m. with the intention of going to a distant field to do some plowing. When he didn’t return late in the afternoon his wife Gertrude went looking for him.
She discovered his body pinned beneath his tractor. He was dead, having suffered cuts to the scalp, his left lung being punctured, in addition to having a broken neck.
County coroner Robert Lulloff and other county officials who investigated the mishap ruled the death accidental. Their findings indicated that the accident occurred shortly after Barth began plowing and that apparently he had made one trip across the field when he lost control of the tractor while making a turn. The tractor struck a fence post, chewed through the fence and rolled over into the adjoining pasture.
Barth was the father of eight children, all of whom survive him, along with his wife.
