Rueth, Sylvester  (22 MAR 1925-13 APR 2011)

 

Sylvester D. Rueth, 86, Loyal, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Neillsville Care & Rehab. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 16, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal. Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil officiated. Burial followed in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Todd Rueth, Aaron Rueth, Bucky Rueth, Jesse Rueth, Matt Weyer and Andrew Meuleners.

 

Sylvester Daniel Rueth was born on March 22, 1925, in Loyal, the son of Albert and Martha (nee Mrotek) Rueth. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at St. Balthezar's Parochial School and Loyal High School.After completing his education, he worked on the family farm and also at the Loyal Cannery.  He married Dorothy E. Frye on June 28, 1947, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal. They raised five children and farmed in the Loyal area until retiring in 1981, at which time they moved into Loyal. He then worked as a custodian for the Greenwood Public Schools, through Green Thumb, until 2009. He also worked at the city of Loyal's recycling center for a few years. He was a member of St. Anthory's Catholic Church and had many interests, but especially loved horses, gardening, his lawn, small animals and polka music.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Barb (Ollie) Schultz, Colby, and Mary (Joe) Veyer, Loyal; three sons, Mike Rueth, Loyal, Bill (LuAnn) Rueth, Loyal, and Joey (Deb) Rueth, Neillsville; 11 grandchildren, Jacqui (Pat) Fons, Tobi (Jeremy) Snyder, Tawnee Schultz, Todd (Kristin) Rueth, Jesse (Nikki) Rueth, Bucjy (Liz) Rueth, AAron (Tara) Rueth, Tiffany (Andrew) Meuleners, Matt (Jen) Weyer, Hannah (Fiance Troy Smith) Weyer, John Rueth and AJ Rueth; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Don Frye, Mt. Horeb; nieces and nephews; special friend Mae Revak; and other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy, on Dec. 21, 1999; one son, Raphael, in infancy; and one sister, Ceceila Bugar, and her husband, Paul Bugar.
