Erickson, Bernadine L. (22 AUG 1916 - 4 MAY 2011)
Bernadine L. Erickson, 94, of Colby passed away Wednesday, May 4,
2011, at Golden Living Center at Abbotsford.
She was born Aug. 22, 1916, to Ralph and Ethel Gallagher in Beecher
City, Ill. Bernadine was united in marriage Aug. 26, 1937, to Eric
Erickson in Chicago. They lived in Northbrook, Ill., until 1941,
and they moved to Unity. In 1984, they moved to Colby. She worked
for St. Croix Fish Pole Factory while living in Unity, then at
Packaging Corp. of America in Colby. She also was employed at
Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield for 20 years. She was one of
the charter members of Maplewood Homemakers Club and also a member
of Curtiss Corners Quilt Club for many years.
She loved fishing and traveling and was an avid gardener with a
great love for plants and flowers. She was also an excellent
seamstress and was well known for her beautiful handmade quilts.
She loved spending time with her family and offered great
hospitality to each and everyone. She will be sadly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eric, on Jan.
9, 1989; one daughter, Sandra Luzinski, on July 3, 2009; two
sisters and two brothers.
Bernadine is lovingly survived by her daughter, Annette (Steve)
Laabs of Colby; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and
one great-great-grandchild.
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran
Church, Colby. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev.
Mark Neumann will officiate. Burial will be in the town of Brighton
Cemetery following the memorial service.
