Haire, Nell (Retirement - FEB 1960)
Nell Haire, chief operator at the Owen exchange of the General Telephone Co., has retired after 35 years of service with the firm. During that period she saw many changes, developments and improvements made in the services as it grew here.
Her retirement now is much easier, she said, because soon the rest of the staff will be retired or transferred by the conversion to dial on the 20th of the month.
A week ago Sunday more than 100 of her friends recognized the long faithful and courteous services she rendered the community throughout the years by visiting her at an opern house program. Guests attended from such communities as Marshfield, Medford, Colby, Abbotsford, Thorp and Minneapolis, Minn., with many recognizing the occasion with gifts and floral presentations.
