SPENCER--MR. LOWE'S FAMILY (20 Jan. 1881)

Mr. Lowe's family have been sadly afflicted during the present winter.  In common with many others, the measles broke out in the family, which was followed by scarlet fever, which so prostrated Gertie, about 12 years of age, that she never recovered and passed the other shore on the morning of new year's day.  Then a little boy, about 5, was taken with typhoid fever, and was for several days on the margin of the dark river, but hopes are now entered for his recovery.
