Gronek, Stanley (17 AUG 1895 - 17 APR 1960)

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday for Stanley Gronek, 64, at Thorp at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church.  The Rev. Francis Disher officiated and burial was made in the parish cemetery.

 

The pallbearers were Tony Ciszewksi, Joe Ciszewski, Ben Pawlak, Calvin Pawlak, Robert Pawlak and Edward Paczkowski.

 

Mr. Gronek died Sunday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.  A rosary service was also held Tuesday evening at the Polnaszek Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Gronek was born Aug. 17, 1895 in Philadelphia, Pa., and at the age of five moved to Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) with his parents.  On Oct. 26, 1921 he was married at Thorp to the former Stella Pawlak who survives him.  They farmed in the Thorp area for 35 years, then moved to Curtiss, where they lived for three years.  The Groneks had lived at Abbotsford for the past two years.

 

Other survivors are three sons, Frank of Chicago and Ed of Berwyn Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Rose) Grajek, Mrs. Ed (Sophie) Filipek and Mrs. Tony (Helen) Polak, all of Chicago; nine grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Francis Paczkowski, Withee, and Miss Minnie Gronek of Chicago;.

 

Attending the funeral were all the children: Mrs. Antonette Zych and son Richie of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Nitek and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Fijalkiewicz of Conrad.  Friends and relatives from Thorp, Withee, Lublin, Owen, Stanley, Abbotsford, Curtiss, Colby and Dorchester also attended.
