Venet, Ruth E. (20 JUL 1923 - 12 MAY 2011)
Ruth E. Venet, 87, of Withee passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011, at
Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, at the United
Church of Christ in Owen. The Rev. Mark Schwinn will officiate.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Visitation will
be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Chet Nirva, Arlyn Mills, Corey Venet, Jerry
Orth, Dale Raatz and Eric Venet.
Ruth was born July 20, 1923, in the town of Longwood to Matt and
Alma (Koski) Hautamaki. She was a 1941 graduate of Owen High
School, moving to Waukegan, Ill., and marrying her first husband,
Lorance Schnoor, on Dec. 19, 1941. He passed away in December 1972.
After their marriage, Lorance and Ruth moved to Owen, where she
worked at the Clark County Health Care Center for 39 years, serving
numerous positions, retiring in 1985.
She married Raymond Venet on Aug. 31, 1974, in Withee.
Ruth and Ray enjoyed traveling and spending weekends at Lake
Holcombe. Ruth enjoyed the casino, sewing, crocheting, embroidery
and quilting.
She was a faithful member of the United Church of Christ in
Owen.
Ruth is lovingly survived by her husband, Ray, of Withee; daughter,
Shirley (Leonard) Alexander of Reedsburg; grandchildren, Lisa
(Rodney) Heinz and Ryan Alexander; great-grandchildren, Cameron
Morse and Kolby Heinz; stepdaughter, Gloria (Randy) Slobodnik;
stepgrandson, Eric (Heidi) Venet; stepgreat-grandchildren, Kayla
Venet and Baily Venet; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and
neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lorance
Schnoor; brother, Charles Hautamaki; sisters, Ellen Metz, Sylvia
Jacobs, Selma Sommers and Lila Kiviko.
Memorials can be designated to the United Church of Christ in
Owen.
