Ellis, Mary Lou (3 JUN 1935 - 5 MAY 2011)


OWEN -- Mary Lou Ellis, 75, of Marshfield, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen.


The visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2011, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield.


A social gathering will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville, where a luncheon will be served from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. A funeral procession will begin at 2:30 p.m. from Corpus Christi Church Hall to the church cemetery, where burial and eternal rest will be.


Mary Lou was born June 3, 1935, in Marshfield, to William and Mary (Binder) Cliver. She attended schools designed for the deaf. She began her education at the "old Purdy School" in Marshfield, attended a few years in the Stevens Point area and graduated in 1953 from St. John's School for the Deaf in Milwaukee.


Mary Lou Ellis was united in marriage to Harry Ellis for 33 years. She had three children from a previous marriage.


Mary Lou was not only industrious but proficient regarding her career as a shoe seamstress. As a young woman, she was formerly employed by Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield for several years. Mary Lou continued to work as a shoe seamstress at Mason Shoe Factory in Chippewa Falls. She retired after 30 years of dedicated employee service.


Mary Lou enjoyed crocheting, knitting, collecting pictures, coins and presidential and other memorabilia. She also loved to travel.


Mary Lou will be remembered and sadly missed by her husband, Harry; her children, Beryl (Jack) Bounder of Nevada, William Ganong of Eau Claire, and Barbie Ganong of Tennessee; a stepdaughter, Kim Schlough of Reedsburg; grandchildren, Zahn Bounder, Jared and Justin Ganong; and a step-grandson, Matthew.


She is survived by her brother and sisters: William (Chris) Cliver and their five children, Judae (Ray Rhodes) Scheibe and her five children, Terry (Bernice) Cliver and their five children, Bruce (Joanie) Cliver and their two children, Kay Stephens and her three children, Ellen Freestone and her son; Debbie Parochka and her three children, Patty (Greg) Ignatowski and their three children, Susan (Bruce) Kolb and their two children, David (Melissa) Cliver and their two children and his five children. Mary Lou had a longtime special friend, Delores, in Marshfield.


She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, a niece and a nephew.


The family wishes to thank the staffs of 6 North, 6 West and 3 North at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital, Bethel Care Center and Clark County Health Care Center.
