Sample, Floyd Wilson (5 Mar 1876 - 17 Jun 1960)

Floyd W. Sample, president of the State Bank of Withee, died Friday, June 17^th, 1960, at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley.  He had been admitted earlier in the week to undergo surgery for the removal of his appendix.  Later he succumbed to a heart condition.  He was 84 years, 3 months and 12 days of age.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home with Rev. Beryl Knudsen, pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church, officiating.  Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.

During the service Rev. Duane Morschek sang several numbers, with Mrs. Morschek accompanying him at the organ.

Serving as pallbearers were Leon Bruchert, Clinton Albert, Emil H. Hansen, Art Karrow, Arnold Vater and Ed Frederick.  Milton Krom and A. R. Martin were honorary pallbearers.  Carrying floral offerings were Mesdames Clinton Albert, E. H. Hansen, Art Karrow, A. Vater and Ed Fredericks.

Floyd W. Sample was born March 5, 1876 in Spring Valley, Minn.  On Dec. 10, 1907 he was united in marriage to Margaret Murray in a ceremony performed at Superior, Wis.  The couple moved to Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1910, settling on a farm which he developed and built a lovely home on it in the Town of Hixon.  Here he had since resided.  In his younger days, in addition to his farming, he worked in the lumber industry and of late years had been a director and president of the Withee Bank.

His sudden passing is mourned by his two daughters, Mrs. Forest (Ruth) Proctor, Oshkosh, and Mrs. Helen Marx, Green Bay; two brothers, Will and Leon, both of Spring Valley, Minn.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
