Ring, Almira Bicknell (7 Mar 1831 - 16 Mar 1914)

Almira Bicknell was born at Jericho, Vermont, March 7th, 1831.  When still a child she came with her parents, two brothers and five sisters to Milton, Wis., where her father, a Congregational minister, was one of the earliest principals of Milton Academy.

In 1849 she married Eleazar F. Ring and moved to Cookville, then later to Sparta, Wisconsin.  To them were born four children, Merritt Clark, Leuellyn Bicknell, Gertrude (now Mrs. G.L. Prescott of Milwaukee) and Jennie, who died in childhood.

Mrs. Ring lived in Sparta until 1880, when she came to Neillsville to live, first with her sons; later, after one year in Alabama, with a sister, one year in England with her daughter, and a year in New York with another sister, she moved into the home on West Fourth Street where she has since resided, until about three years ago.  Since that time she has made her home with her daughter in Milwaukee, at whose home, after a month’s illness, she passed away Monday morning, March 16th, 1914, at one o’clock, having just passed her 83rd birthday.  Her three children were with her.  The interment took place in the family lot at Sparta.  She is survived by her three children, and three sisters, Mrs. Mathilde Hopkins of Fort Atkinson, Mrs. Emmaline Dodge of Daytona, Fla., and Mrs. Jennie Tancre of Jacksonville, Fla.
