Erickson, Bernadine L. (Gallagher) (August 22, 1916- May 4, 2011)

Bernadine L. Erickson, age 94, of Colby passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Golden Living Center at Abbotsford.

She was born August 22, 1916, to Ralph and Ethel Gallagher in Beecher City, Ill.

On August 26, 1937, Bernadine was united in marriage with Eric Erickson in Chicago, Ill.

They lived in Northbrook, Ill., until 1941 and they moved to Unity. In 1984, they moved to Colby. She worked for St. Croix Fish Pole Factory while living in Unity, then at Packaging Corp of America in Colby. She was also employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield for 20 years. She was one of the charter members of Maplewood Homemakers Club and also a member of Curtiss Corners Quilt Club for many years.

She loved fishing, traveling, and was an avid gardener with a great love for plants and flowers. She was also an excellent seamstress and was well known for her beautiful handmade quilts. She loved spending time with her family and offered great hospitality to each and everyone. She will be sadly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eric (Jan 9, 1989); one daughter, Sandra Luzinski (July 3, 2009); two sisters and two brothers.

Bernadine is lovingly survived by her daughter, Annette (Steve) Laabs of Colby; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Reverend Mark Neumann will officiate. Burial will be in the Town of Brighton Cemetery following the memorial service.

God saw she getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around her
and whispered, "Come to Me"

With tearful eyes we watched her fade away although we love her dearly we could not make her stay.

A Golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
