Berger, Ella (1 SEP 1879 - 29 JUN 1960)

One of Withee’s pioneer residents was place in her final resting place when services were conducted Friday afternoon for Mrs. Charles Berger.  She passed away June 29^th, 1960 at the Odd Fellows Home for the aged at Green Bay, where she has been a resident for the past two and one-half years.  Services were conducted from the Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Carlson officiating.  Interment was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were Messrs. Viggo Rasmussen, Einer Larson, Richard Giese, B. Brazzer, George Funk and Frank Kline.  Carrying the floral gifts were Mesdames R. Giese, John Zasoba, S.E. Grimes, Harold Tietsch and Inga Larsen.

Mrs. Berger, the former Ella Heagle, was born Sept. 1, 1879 at Cadott.  On Oct. 24, 1900 she and Charles Berger were wed at Thorp.  That same year the couple moved to Withee where she made her home until she entered the Odd Fellows Home better than two years ago, when her health began to fail.  During her many years in Withee she was active in civic and church affairs and devoted a great deal of time to the Odd Fellow and Rebecca Lodges, in addition to being a devoted and charter member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son Rudolph of Appleton and one granddaughter.  Her husband preceded her in death, passing away in 1953.
