Awe, Mrs. John (24 JUL 1860 - 3 NOV 1960)
Mrs. John Awe, formerly of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died at her home on the Stowell ranch Nov. 3, 1960. She lived in Sunnyvale (Calif.) for 35 years. She was born in New Holstein, Wis., July 24, 1860. In 1880 she married John Awe. They moved to a farm in the Town of Longwood, Clark Co., Wis. There they cut down trees and built a log house in which all their six children were born. They rebuilt all log buildings and made a beautiful farm by 1924 when they moved to California.
She was 100 years old and was still able to walk without a cane at the time of her birthday. She is survived by 27 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the San Leandro Dahlia Society and raised many ribbon winning dahlias on her ranch home site.
Besides her grandchildren, Mrs. Awe is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John (Gertie) Stowell of Sunnyvale, and Mrs. William Youngblood (Emily) of Richmond, Calif., and Henry of Owen.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Nov. 7 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Assembly of God Church in Sunnyvale by the Rev. Ralph W. Hillegas. Interment was in Alta Mesa Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Edwin and Fred of Owen, and one daughter, Alma, who died in infancy.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Wisconsin.
