Hass, Melvin A. (13 JAN 1921 - 7 FEB 1941)

 

Melvin A. Hass was born in the town of Cleveland, Jackson County, Wis., son of Reinhold and Julia (Benz) Hass, Jan. 13, 1921.  He was baptized Jan. 30, 1921 in the Swedish Lutheran Church near Levis.  He went to public school in the town of Cleveland, and after graduation he attended one term in Humbird High School.  He was confirmed June 20, 1935 in the Lutheran Church at Fairchild.

 

After working at home a few years, he joined the CCC camp at Ettrick, April 2, 1940, and was honorably discharge Feb. 4th of this year.  He was ill when he returned to his home in the town of Cleveland, and entered the hospital at Black River Falls Thursday of last week, where he passed away on Feb. 7th, 1941, of mastoid and complications, at the age of 20 years and 25 days.

 

He leaves to mourn his death, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Hass; four brothers and one sister; William Arthur of Merrillan, Roland August of San Francisco, Elmer Edwin Merton Harold, and Arlene Martha, at home.

 

Burial services were held at the Kretschmer Funeral Home Monday afternoon, the Rev. Paul Buck, pastor os St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Fairchild, officiating.  A large number of relatives and friends attended the services.  Burial was made in Mentor Cemetery.
