Stevens, David R. (12 JUN 1857 - 9 NOV 1941)
From Oregon City, Ore, paper dated Nov. 11, 194: "Funeral services for David R. Stevens, who died Sunday, will be held at the Oregon City Funeral Home Wednesday at 2:30 o’clock. He was born June 12, 1857 in Iowa. He came to Oregon City eight years ago. Surviving are the widow, Alma of Oregon City; a daughter, Mrs. Clinton Powell of Portland, and a son, Roy, of Britain, S.D."
Mrs. Fred Nettleton Shatswell, of Kalama, Wash., who sent the above clipping, writes: "Mrs. Alma Stevens was Alma Nettleton, granddaughter of David Nettleton, of whom Nettleton’s Corners was named. Our people came to Wisconsin in the early 1850’s. Mr. and Mrs. Stevens were married at Wm. Nettleton’s in Garden Valley in May 1895. Today is like a spring day, flowers and warm sunshine; we haven’t had any frost yet. I would surely miss the Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.) paper as it keeps us informed of our old friends."
