JOHN W. COOPER the young man who had three fingers removed from his left hand, here last fall, and lately had both feet amputated at the Point, has since died of his injuries.

J. W. Cooper, a brakeman on conductor Redfield's log train, had one of his hands severely crushed while coupling cars at Medford on Monday night last. He was obliged to have several of his fingers amputated.

Resolutions.

Resolutions passed by North Star Lodge. I. O. G. T., on the death of J. W. Cooper:

Whereas, It has pleased Almighty God to remove from our number by death our worthy brother, J. W. cooper; be it therefore

Resolved. That in the death of our fellow member, North Star Lodge No. 153 has lost an active and useful member, each member of this lodge has been deprived of a friend and the order of Good Templars of an enthusiastic and earnest worker.

Resolved. That North Star Lodge, recognizing the manly character and true worth of our brother, extends its heartfelt sympathy to the father and mother who have been called upon to mourn the loss of an only son, and to the loving sisters in this their sad bereavement.

Resolved. That these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of this lodge and a copy of them be presented to the family and furnished the JOURNAL and Gazette for publication.

The following resolutions passed by the Odd Fellows Lodges of this city, are self-explanatory:

Whereas, the success of the the Celebration of the 62nd Anniversary of American Odd Fellowship, held under the auspices of Shaurette Lodge No. 32? and Stumpt Lodge No. 225. I. O. O. F., at the city of Stevens Point, Wis., on the 27th day of April, 1881, is to a great degree attributed to the kind and hearty co-operation of the citizens of the city of Stevens Point by decorating their buildings appropriately and giving the city a a festal day appearance on that occasion: and to the members of the Glee Club of Stevens Point, by enlivening the exercises of the day with excellent, appropriate vocal music, to the Grand Rapids Cornet Band, for furnishing music at the street parade open air concert, and to visiting members of the order; therefore be it

Resolved. That our sincere thanks are due and we hereby tender our grateful acknowledgment to the citizens of Stevens Point generally, for their zealous participation in our celebration, and the cordial reception extended by them to our visiting brethren; to Miss Candice Ellis, Miss Martha Gran, Mrs. F. Crawford, W. B. Buckingham and D. smith member of the Glee Club, for adding much to the festivities by furnishing excellent and appropriate vocal music; to the members of Grand Rapids Cornet Band, for furnishing music to the parade and open air concert, and otherwise attributing to the day festivities, to the visiting members of the order for their participation in the celebration of that day.

Resolved. That these resolution be spread upon the Journals of the respective Lodges, and that they also be published in the newspapers published in the city of Stevens Point.

Died of Sill Injuries.

John W. Cooper, the young man who had his legs taken off by the cars in this city last week Tuesday, died of his injuries at 9 o'clock last Friday evening. Deceased was a member of North Star Lodge, I. O. O. F., the members of which
kindly watched with and took cure of him from first to last. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon, the Good Templars taking charge of the arrangements and attending in a body.

A sister of deceased arrived from Springsboro (Spring), Pennsylvania, Monday morning, accompanied by Rev. C. W. Foulke, with whom she is living. At first it was the intention to take the remains to Pennsylvania, where the parents and four sisters of deceased reside, but on more mature consideration it was decided not to disinter them.

NEGLECTED TO PAY.

The funeral expenses of young Cooper are yet unsettled, and the chances seem to be that they will remain so. After the funeral, the railroad company sent for the bills, but when they were presented declined to pay them. The sister of deceased in whose interest the dead brother had his life insured for $500, was then spoken to on the subject, but she also neglected to make any provisions for their payments. The Rev. Mr. Foulke, who came with her as friend, when spoken to about matter, declined to give any advice, one way or the other. It seems incredible that the reverend gentleman would allow the girl to go away without first providing for the expense of her brother's burial, even if she was inclined to do so, (which may reasonably be doubted), but such was the case. As the matter now stands, E B. Grant is out a little upwards of $60, the cemetery association $17 and Dorsey $5.50.
