Orel Eileen Hutchins was born on March 30, 1916, in the town of Unity, Clark County, the daughter of Clarence and Anna (nee Catlin) Hutchins. She was raised on the family farm, receiving her education in the Unity area and graduating from Spencer High School. She married Theodore H. Schwieso on Feb. 10, 1934, in Loyal. During the early years of their marriage, they farmed in both the Clark and Rock County area. Upon retiring from farming, they eventually moved to a home one mile north of Loyal. She also worked at the Loyal Canning Company, Roth Manufacturing and the Star Lodge Motel. She was a member of Sy. Anthony’s Catholic Church, its Altar Society, and was a volunteer for the Loyal election board. In her later years, she joined the Red Hat Society, enjoying the company of good friends in many of their fun-filled outings.
Her family was the central focus of her life. Her love of reading and traveling has passed on to her children. There were many healthy debates as well as laughter around mom’s kitchen table about a myriad of topics. Her children enjoyed hours of game playing with mom, often losing to her competitive spirit.
She will be dearly missed by her six surviving children, Duaine (Mary) Schwieso, Chili, James (Barbara) Schwieso, Waunakee, Bruce (Cathy) Schwieso, Appleton, Cheri (Dennis) Geurtsen, Marshfield, Charmaine (Russell) Becker, Sussex, and Brian (Lois) Schwieso; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on June 3, 1987;two sons, Terry Schwieso and Jack Schwieso; a sister, Iva Foelske; and a brother, Delbert Hutchins.
