Wright, Benjamin (29 FEB 1872 - 9 APR 1942)

Benjamin Wright passed away at the home of his son Walter, on the farm east of Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.), at 2:45 p.m., April 9, 1942, at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 10 days.  He was in ill health for about a year and a half, and had been receiving hospital treatment a short time previous to his death.

He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wright, and was born at Eau Galle Feb. 29, 1872.  He grew to young manhood there.  In January 1898 he was married to Miss Ethel Lemon at Weston, where they resided a number of years.

To this union nine children were born, five daughters and four sons: Mrs. Lawrence Risem, Chicago; Mrs. George Bink, Mrs. Peter Dederick, Milwaukee; Mrs. Peter Peterson, Randolph; and Mrs. Leo Kozlowski, Humbird; and Walter and Wilbur at home; Ben and Neillsville; and Lyle in the army overseas.

Twelve years ago the family moved to a farm east of Humbird, where his wife died nine years ago.

Mrs. Wright is survived by his nine children, nineteen grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Rankin, Mrs. Kathryn Bates, Elmwood, and Mrs. Mary Doolittle of Los Angeles; two brothers, Henry and Herman, Elmwood.  His death is also mourned by a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at the Free Methodist Church Sunday afternoon, and were attended by many of his relatives and friends.  Three members of his family and two sisters were unable to be present.  The pastor, Rev. W.T. Fensome, used as his text of the burial sermon, Matt. 14:44, "Therefore, be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh."  A duet sang by Miss Eberly and Rev. Fensome and a solo by Miss Eberly.  Interment was in Mentor Cemetery.
