Foemmel, Joyce Elaine (Marriage - 24 March 1962)

Nuptial vows were exchanged Saturday in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Granton, uniting in marriage Miss Joyce Elaine Foemmel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Foemmel of Rt. 2, Granton, and Don Arthur Riedel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Riedel, Rt. 1 Granton.  The double ring candlelight ceremony was performed by the Rev. L. E. Schreiber, before an altar adorned with bouquets of lavender and white gladioli, two miniature palms and candelabra. Ten candles lined the pews.

Miss Foemmel was given in marriage by her father. She was attired in a ballerina-length gown of frosted nylon over a lavender taffeta underskirt. The full bouffant skirt came to a "V" at the waist, and the fitted bodice was styled with a scalloped neckline and long, tapered sleeves that came to a point at the wrist.  Her fingertip veil of silk illusion billowed from a crown trimmed with crystals and pearls. She carried a bridal bouquet of lavender orchids surrounded by white roses.

Miss Joann Foemmel attended her twin sister as maid-of-honor.  Bridesmaids were Janice Foemmel and Kathleen Riedel.

The attendants were attired in identically styled lavender taffeta dresses, fashioned with full, pleated skirts accented with large bows at the back. The bodices were fitted and were styled with short sleeves, scalloped necklines and a long torso waist that came to a "V" in front.  They wore matching face-length veils, secured to crowns of lavender and pearls. They carried basket-shaped bouquets of white roses, entwined with lavender ribbon.

Julie Riedel was flowergirl. She wore a miniature bridal gown of the same material as the bride’s, and lined with lavender taffeta.  The full skirt, with a scalloped overskirt, was accented with a front lavender bow, and the fitted bodice was styled with puffy sleeves. She wore a miniature veil that cascaded from a crown of pearl and sequins, and carried a bouquet of white roses.

The groom’s twin brother, Dale, was best man. Groomsmen were Jim Mesar and Wayne Foemmel.

Tommy Riedel carried the rings on a white satin pillow.

"O Perfect Love" and "The Lord’s Prayer" were sung by William Chambers, accompanied by Mrs. L. E. Schreiber.

A reception for 120 guests was held in the church parlors following the service.

The bride and groom are graduates of Granton High School.  The bride is attending Stout State College in Menomonie and the groom works at home.  Mr. and Mrs. Riedel left after the reception on a wedding trip.
