Osborn, Betty (21 NOV 1942)

Miss Betty Osborn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Osborn Jr. of Madison, and William Staves, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Staves of the town of Cleveland, were married Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock in St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Humbird.  The Rev. C.H. Pierstorff of Merrillan, officiated, using the beautiful ring service.

Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Will Theiler sang "O Promise Me" and "Perfect Love."  Miss Simons accompanied here at the organ, and also played Lohengrin’s Bridal Chorus and Mendelsohn’s Wedding March during the service.

Small self covered buttons closed the back of the brid’s beautiful white satin gown, which was designed in princess fashion with lace neckline, long close fitted sleeves, floor length skirt with brief train.  Her elbow length tulle veil was caught to a lace and seed pearl tiara.

She carried an arm bouquet of white chrysanthemums and pink carnations.  Miss Delores Nibbe, maid of honor, wore a gown of dusty rose brocade taffeta, close fitting, floor length.  A floral corsage of mixed sweet peas and pink roses made a lovely costume, which was completed with white accessories.

Miss Ruby Gort, the bridesmaid, was very lovely in her blue faille taffeta gown with fitted bodice, full floor length skirt fashioned with insets of wide chiffon velvet bands, white flowers in her hair and a corsage of mixed sweet peas and pink roses.

The attendants for the groom were George Staves, a brother, and Willard Stanley.  Ushers were Everett Smith and Roger Staves.

A reception was held at the Staves’ home in Cleveland after the wedding, and a course dinner was served at 6:00 o’clock.  A dancing party was held at the town hall in this village in the evening.

Many lovely and useful gifts were received by the bride and groom, both of whom are well known young people, and both are graduates of our high school, and are now employed in St. Paul, where they will make their home.  Best wishes of their many friends go with these fine young people.
