Hart, Ruth (8 APR 1943)
The marriage of Mrs. Ruth Hart, formerly of this village (Humbird, Clark Co., Wis.), and Mrs. Ralph Andrews of Seward, Alaska, was quietly celebrated at the Methodist Church in Eau Claire on Thursday, April 8th, 1943. The Rev. J. Jordan officiated, using the single ring ceremony. The bride and groom were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Kurtzweg, a brother and sister-in-law of the bride. For this occasion the bride wore a neat traveling dress of blue, and the groom also wore a suit of blue.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrews are at his parents at Smithland, Iowa, for a week, and will spend a week or two at Skibo and Allen, Minn., before cleaving for Alaska, where their permanent home will be established. Mrs. Andrews’ daughter, Laurel, will accompany them to the new home.
Mr. Andrews is employed on the Alaskan Railway, where he has been for the past six years. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Andrews of Smithland, Iowa; he graduated from high school in his home city and also from Malning College at Sioux City. He served as an enlisted soldier in the first World War, and was for two years in the Philippine Islands. Mrs. Andrews, who has formed many close friendships during a few years residence in this village, is a former teacher in the Clark County schools, being a graduate of Neillsville High School and teachers’ training department. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kurtsweg, who reside near the county seat. Lately she has been employed in Marshfield by Roddis Veneer Co., on war work.
This happy marriage is the culmination of a friendship which started in their youthful days. Mr. Andrews was back from Alaska owing to an injury received in his work, and the ceremony was hastened, owing to the necessity of his returning the latter part of the month.
