Smith, Fred H. (12 JAN 1939 - 3 JUN 2011)
Fred H. Smith Sr., 72, of Curtiss died Friday, June 3, 2011, at his
home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at the Hemer
Funeral Home, Medford. The Rev. Kris Bjerke-Ulliman will
officiate.
Visitations will be at 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the
Hemer Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. until the time of services
Tuesday at the Hemer Funeral Home.
Fred was born Jan. 12, 1939, in Hancock County, Iowa, to Marlor J.
and Lucy (Caudell) Smith. His first marriage was to Sharon
Peterson, and they later divorced. His second marriage was to Marie
Peterson, and they later divorced. He married Latonia J. Chenier on
Oct. 10, 1998, in Blair, Neb., and she survives.
Besides farming for 18 years, Fred sold life insurance and later
managed recreational vehicles parks in Iowa and Nebraska. Later, he
worked at the Dorchester Co-op.
He is survived by his wife, Latonia "Toni" Smith of Curtiss,
children Dawn (Dave) Gilbert of Swale Dale, Iowa, Fred Allan (Dea)
Smith Jr. of Knoxville, Iowa and Misty Smith of Monet, Iowa;
step-children Ashley McBride of Altoona, Iowa, Steven McBride of
Knoxville, Iowa and Michael McBride of Knoxville, Iowa; five
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is further survived
by sisters Coleen (Bob) Devin of Webber Falls, Okla., Zudavee
Holland of Forest City, Iowa and Madliene (Steven) Jensen of Robin,
Iowa.
