Barton, William (1847 - 10 Apr 1914)

Wm. Barton died at Sacred Heart Hospital at Eau Claire last Friday, aged 67 years.  He was born in St. Andrews, Canada, and was married to Isabelle Smith.  His wife died two years after their marriage.  Thirty-five years ago this coming June he came to Clark County and took up his residence, two years later being united in marriage to Anna Owens.  Nine children were born to them, five of whom with the mother, survive their father.  About 1884 Mr. Barton bought a farm in town Weston and lived there with his family until seven years ago when he sold it and bought a place in town of Grant.  Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Barton moved to Neillsville to make their home.  Mr. Barton was a man of many sterling qualities and was well liked by all who knew him.  During his many years of residence in Clark County he made many sincere friends who endured until the time of his death.  The funeral was held Monday, services being held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and interment being made in the Catholic cemetery.  The children who survive their father are Mrs. Stone of Lake Mills, Mrs. Howard Begley of town York, Jule, Frances and Patricia who live at home.  Deceased is also survived by his brothers Jos. and Anton of this city and a brother and sister in Canada.
