Cooper, William (11 Aug 1845 - 9 Apr 1914)

 

William Cooper died last Thursday at Merrillan at the home of his brother-in-law, O.L. Sprague, after an illness of several months duration with stomach and heart trouble.  Mr. Cooper was born on Long Island, N.Y., on Aug. 11, 1845, and came to Clark County in 1865, settling in this city.  On Aug. 29, 1869, he was united in marriage to Esther Rose, but his wife lived but a few months after their marriage.  He was again united in marriage on Aug. 20, 1871, to Emma Rose, who with their son, Floyd, survives him.  The greater part of his life was spent in Neillsville and during his years of residence here he conducted himself so as to win the regard of all who knew him.  He farmed his place west of the city for many years, later coming here to live, and he was at all times industrious and hard-working.  Of late years he had not made his home here continuously, he and his wife usually spending the summer at their residence here, and for the past two years they had lived at Merrillan.  Mr. Cooper was a good man and was well liked by all.  The remains were [rest of article unavailable for transcription]
