Phillips, George #2 (7 AUG 1872 - 1 OCT 1943)
George W. Phillips was born near Oconomowoc, Aug. 7, 1872, and died at Merrillan Sept. 30, 1943, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 23 days. He was the oldest of nine children born to Leonidas and Louisa Phillips. When he was a small boy they moved to Clark County, where the most of his life has been spent.
In 1918 he was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Fitzmaurice. To this union five children were born, two of whom, Donald and Maurice, died in infancy. He is survived by his widow and three children, Louise, Mable and Gerald. Three grandchildren, four brothers, and four sisters survive. They are: William, Mrs. Carrie Woodford, Humbird; Charles, Eau Claire; Mrs. Ella Harrian, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Mina Eldridge, Thompson Falls, Mont.; Mrs. Della Junghaus, Plainview, Minn.; Clarence, Merrillan; Ernest, La Crosse. Numerous other relatives also mourn his death.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Merrillan Sunday afternoon, Oct. 3rd, conducted by Rev. W.F. Wright, and burial was in the family lot beside his parents in Mentor Cemetery.
