Mrs. Geo. Squires Sr. returned Tuesday afternoon from a very pleasant month’s visit with relatives and friends at her former home in Kenosha.
Mrs. Mary Gort and sons spent Thanksgiving weekend with her mother and other relatives in Chippewa Falls.
W.F. Hein enjoyed a Thanksgiving weekend vacation from his trips on the merged mail routes. This was Mr. Hein’s last "vacation" as he has made application to the department for retirement on Jan. 1st. A.L. Sparkes, substitute carrier, made the trips during Mr. Hein’s vacation, and it is expected that Mr. Sparkes will carry mail after Jan. 1st until a regular carrier is appointed.
Mrs. Arthur Putman of Eau Claire was a Thanksgiving day visitor with relatives and friends here.
At the November session of the county board, A.L. Sparkes came within a very few votes of being elected county highway commissioner. He would have made a good official in that capacity.
Pfc. Elgin T. Arneson, 22 years old, of Taylor, died in an army hospital at Springfield Mo., following a third operation. Burial was at Taylor Tuesday, conducted by the Legion posts of Taylor and Black River Falls.
