Waterman, Ruth L. (24 JUN 1944)
On Saturday evening, June 24, 1944, at 7:30, at the First Universalist Church of Elgin, Ill., Miss Ruth Louise Waterman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erin Waterman, of Elgin Ill., became the bride of Patrick J. Kirby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kirby of Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.).
Preceding the wedding party to the palm and fern banked altar were the four ushers, wearing pastel formal, who lighted the candles for the ceremony.
The bride, escorted to the altar and given away by her father, wore white mousseline de soie, the bodice embellished with satin applique and the skirt graduating into a train. Her fingertip veil was held in place by a Juliet cap trimmed with seed pearls. Her bouquet was of mixed white flowers.
Mrs. Earl Struve, the bride’s sister, served as her matron of honor, wearing pink taffeta and net, and carrying a bouquet of mixed flowers. Sgt. Frank Waterman of Truax Field, Wis., was Mr. Kirby’s best man.
100 relatives and friends were guests at the reception which followed at the Waterman home. After the reception, the newlyweds left on a short honeymoon trip to northern Wisconsin, and are now at home at 172 Seneca St., Elgin.
