Neillsville Locals (19 July 1962)

 

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Keller of Neillsville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Shirley, to Robert Simonson, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Simonson of Wittenberg. A spring wedding is planned.  Miss Keller holds a degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin and is on the teaching staff of an Eau Claire hospital.

 

Kenneth Mund of Rockford, Ill., is spending two weeks’ vacation with the Herbert Keller family.

 

Mrs. Henry Seidelmann and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sitzman went to Columbus to visit the latter’s sister, Mrs. Kurt Schoenherr and her family last weekend.

 

Larry Keller returned last week from Camp Manitowish, where he spent three weeks in a conservation camp.  Shirley Keller, Robert Simonson, Mrs. Herbert Keller and Mrs. Henry Seidelmann drove to Boulder Junction to get him.

 

Mrs. Mildred Bartz of Milwaukee is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Jepsen, and her family.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Galstad and daughter, Kathleen, drove to Eau Claire, where Kathleen is making plans to enter the college in September.

 

Mary and Debbie Beach of Stillwater, Minn., are spending two weeks with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Warren.

 

Linda Drescher, riding Kala Bourbon owned by Mrs. Margaret Farrand, placed first in horsemanship and third in Pleasure Riders at the horse show in Marshfield Sunday; Royann Giggee place fourth in Pleasure Class for ponies.  Mrs. Farrand states "This closed the regular circuit for 1962, but the winners of all area shows will compete in Marshfield August 26."

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frantz returned last week from San Jose, Calif., where they visited their daughter, Mrs. Verne Jewett, and her family for two weeks.  The second day after their arrival, Mrs. Frantz became ill with pneumonia and she remained in the Jewett home during her entire stay in the west.  They saw Mrs. Robert Gault in Hayward, Calif., and Mrs. Ashley Freeberg in San (missing information).

 

Mrs. Patricia Seif and children and a girl friend and her children spent two weeks recently at the Young cottage in Hatfield.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dux of Lancaster, Cal., are guests at the Carl Hoffman home.  They were met in St. Paul, Minn., by Mr. and Mrs. Bob Shaw, who brought them to Neillsville.  Mrs. Dux is the former Della McKimm of the Neillsville community.

 

Recent guests at the Anna Ludwikowski home were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tock of Belvidere, Ill.; and Mrs. Delores Marshall and Kathy of West Bend.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Tock and children, Tomah, were recent weekend guests of his aunt, Mrs. Anna Ludwikowski. While here Mr. and Mrs. Tock and their aunt drove to West Bend and spent a day with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tock.

 

Mrs. Kenneth Metcalf of the Town of York accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Verland Crocket to Beloit on Friday, where they spent the weekend with relatives.  Miss June Crockett accompanied the group.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Spranger, Beloit, enroute home from northern Wisconsin visited Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Krejci.  Overnight guests that same evening at the Krejci home were Mrs. Krejci’s other sister, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Spoonover and family, also of Beloit, who were on their way for a weekend in northern Wisconsin.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lulloff and family have returned from a vacation trip to the eastern states. The family camped out and toured points of historic interest.

 

Mr. and Mrs. George Moen, Pampa, Tex., have returned home after spending several days with his daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Struble and family.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dwyer, Jr., and their son, Stevie, of Milwaukee, were visitors one day last week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dwyer, Sr.  They have been called here by the death of her father, Frank Helbling, 71, and attended his funeral services July 10 in Black River Falls.  Mr. Helbling, well known in Neillsville, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Brenning of Carpinteria, Cal., have left for their home after spending several days with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn D. Robinson.

 

Jerry Howard, who spent two weeks recently with his sisters, Mrs. John Mazola, Jr., and Miss Louis Howard in Milwaukee, has returned home.

 

Debbie Eddy of Neillsville is spending a week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Shaw, in Christie.

 

Mr. and Mrs. George Jonkel of Huron, S. D., arrived Saturday to visit his mother, Mrs. Tom Yndogliato, and her family.  They returned home Monday, taking with them their five children, who had been visiting at the Yndogliato farm in Pine Valley.

 

Murel Mott of Milwaukee visited at home in Pine Valley last weekend.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shafer and son, Harry, returned to St. Louis, Mo., last weekend after visiting relatives in Pine Valley, Hewett and Neillsville. Their daughter, Cindy, remained for an extended visit at the Albert Sollberger home in Neillsville.

 

Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Buechel and family of Milwaukee spent last weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Murel Mott, in Pine Valley.

 

Norman Braatz, who was injured at the Grant Town hall six weeks ago, spent Satruday and Sunday at his home in Grant.  He returned Sunday evening to an Eau Claire hospital, where he is to have more surgery.

 

W. (Joe) Johanson of St. Petersburg, Fla., visited Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Dodte and Tommy last week in Pine Valley.

 

Bernard Dodte announces the Clark County Council for Retarded Children is holding no meetings in July and August, but will resume in September.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Korth of Lake Mills visited Mr. and Mrs. August Foemmel in York and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Drescher in Grant last weekend.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kuechenmeister entertained Satruday evening at their home in Grant. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Drescher, Mr. and Mrs. Lamoine Anason and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Drescher.

 

William Covell, brother of Mrs. Robert Drescher of Grant, reports he is traveling in the North Atlantic on the U. S. Destroyer Storme.  The ship was scheduled to dock in New York and Canada.  The Storme came into prominence several months ago when it rescued one of the astronauts.

 

Donald Schutt of Harvard, Ill., was a house guest at the Norman Braatz home in the Town of Grant.
