Schaefer, Peter (20 May 1877 - 25 July 1962)
Funeral services were held Saturday morning from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville for Peter Schaefer, 85, of 307 E. 12th Street Neillsville, who died July 25, in Memorial Hospital, after being in ill health for several years. The Rev. Fr. Bernard T. Kelly officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. A general rosary service was said Friday evening at the Georgas Funeral Home.
Mr. Schaefer was born May 20, 1877, in West Bend, the son of the late Joe and Mary Schaefer. He received his education in the West Bend schools and farmed with a brother near Greenwood. He later farmed in the Town of York before moving to Neillsville several years ago.
He was married January 7, 1925, to Sophia Genteman. Following their marriage they operated the farm in the Town of York, moving to Neillsville in 1942.
He is survived by his wife; two stepsons, John Genteman of Marshfield and Bill Genteman of the Town of York; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Schaefer, who was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.
Pallbearers were Herbert Schoenherr, William Diercks, William Roehl, William Genteman, Sr., Alfred Foemmel and Leonard Wachholz.
