Humbird (9 August 1962)

 

Kenneth Sheffer rode his "bike" to La Crosse July 27 and made the trip in very good time.  He will stay with his grandparents for a week.

 

It is reported that Mrs. Matte Rogers was taken to the Neillsville hospital last week by ambulance, having suffered a stroke.

 

Mr. and Mrs. DeWayne Schweinler and children and Mrs. Lillian Schweinler of Elroy spent July 29 with her mother, Mrs. Freda Zerbel, and Art.

 

Mrs. Danny Wallace entertained at a party recently in honor of the fourth birthday of their son, Dean, by having 15 little folks there for dinner.  For supper, the Wallaces had as guests the Duerkops, Marvin Schuld and Mrs. Hulda Winscher.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Buttke and family of Milwaukee were overnight guests recently of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Polege.  They also visited his brothers of Alma Center.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Haigh of Neillsville were visitors July 29 in the Will Ringrose home.

 

Mrs. Thane Joos of Alma Center came up July 27 to get their daughter, Karen, who had spent a week in the Newton home.

 

Mrs. Jake Hefty is home from the hospital and is feeling pretty good.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Chet Bailey drove to Pittsville July 29 and were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Larson. Then all attended the 75th anniversary celebration of Pittsville and the Indian Powwow held there. Red Blancher of radio fame who was born and raised at Pittsville, was there.

 

Mrs. Alyce Gearing and Mahlon Lund were at Black River Falls to attend the funeral of Miss Jennie Richenbach
