Gaden, Ernest P. (13 AUG 1916 - 20 JUN 2011)

 


NEILLSVILLE -- Ernest P. Gaden, 94, of Neillsville died Monday, June 20, 2011, at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center.


Ernie was born Aug. 13, 1916, in Neillsville, to William and Mary (Aumann) Gaden. After completing his education, he worked for Clark County before going in the Army in October 1941. He served in the Aleutian Islands, the Europe campaign and fought battles in Rhineland in central Europe. He was awarded the American Defense Service Ribbon, the EAME Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star, five Over Sea Service bars and one Service Stripe. He also wore the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. Ernest was discharged in October 1945.


After returning home, he worked at American Foods in Neillsville until it closed. He then worked various jobs until retirement.


He is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.


A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Neillsville Veteran's Council. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service, Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Visitation also will be at the church on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.


The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Ernest's family with funeral arrangements.
