Balow, Jane L. (5 October 1966 - 15 June 2011)

Jane L. Balow, 44, of Marshfield died Wednesday morning, June 15, 2011, at the Palliative Care Unit at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Jane was born Oct. 5, 1966, in Baldwin.  She graduated from Stanley High School in 1985.  She then earned her B. A. degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and went on to earn her master’s degree in guidance and counseling in 2000.

Jane worked to help youth with their issues at various facilities; including Sunburst Youth Homes in Neillsville, Clark County Department of Social Services, Northern Pines in Cumberland and Lutheran Social Services.  Prior to her illness, Jane very much enjoyed working with her co-workers and clients at Children’s Services Society in Marshfield as a therapist.

Jane was a fun person and had many friends. She considered herself to be the funniest person she knew.

Jane was dedicated to her daughter, Dahlia, the light of her life.  She loved her entire family and had a very strong faith in God and the Virgin Mary.

Jane loved to have fun including having "Whoohaas" for her nieces and nephews.  She loved all kinds of music and the Green Bay Packers. She also followed the New York Yankees much to the dismay of her family, who are Brewers and Twins fans.

Jane married Doug Krokstrom in Marshfield this year. She fought her cancer with courage, surrounded by a large family and awesome friends and co-workers.  She will be sadly missed by all, but we know she is smiling down on us with the rest of the angels.

She is survived by her husband, Doug; children, Adam Krokstrom of Platteville, Ryan, Jennifer, Alex and Dana Krokstrom, all of Marshfield, and Dahlia Balow-Krokstrom of Marshfield; her parents, William and Alice Gadke of Rice Lake; siblings, Guy (Kelly) Balow of Detroit Lakes, MN, Thomas (Jennifer) Balow of New Richmond, Ben Balow of Rockford, MN, Joe (Sharon) Balow of Amery, Donna (Pete) Lecander of Star Prairie, Marie (Doug) Nett and Valerie Curry of Rice Lake and Rosanne (Paul) Snowwhite of Dexter, MI.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at Christ Lutheran Church, Marshfield, with visitation Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rembs Funeral Home, and again Sunday at the church from noon until the time of the services. Rev. Mark A. Krueger officiated.  Dahlia Balow-Krokstrom, Jennifer and Laura Balow provided music for the services along with congregational singing.

Honorary pallbearers  were Andy and Jared Balow and Alex Krokstrom.  Pallbearers were Adam and Ryan Krokstrom, Jake Nett, Mike Curry, Adam Balow and Paul Lecander.
