Bushnell, Joyce M. (10 JUN 1928 - 23 JUN 2011)

 


Joyce M. Bushnell, 83, of Loyal died Thursday, June 23, 2011, in the Palliative Care Unit at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.


A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2011, at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer, with graveside committal to follow at Loyal Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. Ronald Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 4 p.m. until time of service.


Joyce was born June 10, 1928, in Blue Mounds Township near Mt. Horeb to the late Meroy and Josephine (Johnson) Benson. She graduated from Mt. Horeb High School in 1946. For a number of years, Joyce worked in Madison as a keypunch operator at the State Department of Transportation.


She was united in marriage to Charles M. Bushnell on April 3, 1961, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison. Joyce and Charles enjoyed many wonderful years together, marking their 50th wedding anniversary April 3, 2011.


Joyce did accounting work for a tax assessor for several years. Later, she enjoyed meeting and assisting people as an Avon representative. Finally, she and Charles worked as motel managers for several years.


Joyce was a very dedicated and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She really loved time with her family, especially her grandchildren.


Joyce was an excellent cook. Pastimes she enjoyed included going garage saling and playing various games, including Scrabble, Yahtzee, bingo and the card game Rook.


Joyce is survived by her husband, Charles; one daughter, Karyn (Peter) Brecht; and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Valorie Brecht, all of Loyal. She is further survived by a sister, Jean Olson of Shoreline, Wash.; several nieces and a nephew; other relatives and friends.
