Armitage (June 1956)
The Rev. Ethel Nulton, pastor of the Christie Methodist Church, was the officiating clergyman at the marriage Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock of Miss Jeneda Joan Armitage, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lisle Armitage, route four, Neillsville, and Leroy Lavandowska route one, Greenwood. His parents are Mr.and Mrs. Helmuth Lavandowska.
Miss Barbara Miller, Neillsville, a friend of the bride, and James Buettner, Neillsville, a friend of the groom were the honor attendants. A cousin of the bride, Miss Kay Crume, Neillsville, and Wayne Holnbach were the bridesmaid and groomsman. In charge of ushering were William Armitage, the bride’s brother, and Robert Tichy, Greenwood, a friend of the groom.
Linda Mead, Loyal, a niece of the groom, was the flower girl. Gowned in a white floor-length dotted swiss, she carried a basket filled with lilies of the valley and bleeding hearts.
Net over taffeta was used to style the blue floor-length dress worn by the maid of honor, and the bridesmaid chose a pink dress, identically styled. Blue rosebuds were pinned to the pink feather fan which the maid of honor carried, while Miss Crume had pink rosebuds on a blue fan.
A hort-sleeved, floor length gown of white net and lace over taffeta was chosen by the bride for her wedding. Inserts of lace accented the front and back of the bouffant skirt. Lace glovelets and an orchid on an heirloom fan completed her attire.
The newlyweds were honored at a reception following the ceremony in the Christie Hall. They went on a honeymoon trip to the western states, and will make their home on the Helmuth Lavandowska farm, route one, Greenwood.
The bride, a graduate of the Neillsville High School, has been employed at the First National Bank, Neillsville. Her husband is a Loyal High School graduate.
