White, James H. (24 April 1885 - 27 August 1962)

 

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Methodist Church for James H. White, 77, of Loyal, who died August 27, following a heart attack suffered at his home.  Burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.

 

A native of Clark County, Mr. White was born April 24, 1885, in the Town of York.  He spent his early years as a surveyor in Montana, and when 24, enrolled in a business college in La Crosse.  Later he attended a barber college in Seymour.

 

In 1916 he settled with his first wife, the former Eva Swieso, on a farm in the Town of Eaton.  He retired and moved into the city of Loyal in 1949.  In recent years he had worked at carpentry.

 

Mr. White served for 25 years as clerk of the Lyon School, south of Loyal; was a director of t he Greenwood Cooperative for 12 years, and of the Neillsville Milk Products for five years.

 

He was married to Mrs. Clara Brossow on April 9, 1949, in Appleton. She survives as do the following children: Kenneth of Rockford, Ill.; S/Sgt. Donald of Okinawa; Mrs. Pernell (Eula) Thompson of Columbus; Mrs. Robert (Elaine) Bauer and Mrs. Harold (Melva) Hendrickson, both of Greenwood.  Also surviving are: a step-daughter, Mrs. Henry (Shirley) Vivoda of Appleton; a step-son, Duane Brussow of Milwaukee; three brothers, Herbert of Loyal and William and Frank of Spokane, Wash.; and  two sisters, Mrs. Alice Swieso of Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Effie Swieso of Greenwood.  Eighteen grandchildren also survive.
