Hales, Loren L. (8 January 1891 - 25 August 1962)
Funeral services for Loren L. Hales, 71, Rt. 1, Granton, were held Tuesday afternoon from the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton. Mr. Hales died Saturday in Neillsville. The Rev. Paul Doering of the Loyal Methodist Church officiated. Burial was made in the Windfall Cemetery.
Mr. Hales, who spent most of his life time in the Town of York, was born there January 8, 1891, and attended the rural schools of that town. He was married on July 12, 1919, to Amelia Krause in the Town of Fremont. She preceded him in death. On October 9, 1954, he married Verla (Rowe) Dahl in Beloit. He farmed for 46 years in the Town of York.
He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Martin (Marie) Hillert, Mrs. Hubert (Evelyn) Dudei, Mrs. Francis (Jeanette) Steiner, all of the Granton area; Norman Hales, Niles, Mich.; Albert Hales, Reeseville; two step-children, Mrs. Hazel Miller, Clintonville, and Alvin Dahl of Granton. Other survivors include fourteen grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Lottie Page, Stanley; Mrs. William (Ella) Eibergen, Granton; Guy Hales, Port Washington; and Harry Hales, Wisconsin Rapids.
Pallbearers were: Emil Henninger, Ed Voight, Ray and George Mortimer, Ewald Schlinsog and William Morley.
Mrs. William Schmidtke and Mrs. Van Kayser sang, "Jesus Savior Pilot Me" and "Under His Wing" accompanied by Mrs. Albert Grimm.
