Balow, Jane (05 OCT 1966-15 JUNE 2011)
Jane L. Balow, 44, Marshfield, died on Wednesday morning, June 15, 2011, at the Palliative Care Unit at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., on Sunday, June 19, at Christ Lutheran, Marshfield. Rev. Mark A. Krueger officiated. Dahlia Balow-Krokstrom and Jennifer and Laura Balow provided the music for the services, along with congregational singing. Honorary pallbearers were Andy Balow, Jared Balow, and Alex Krokstrom. Pallbearers were Adam Krokstrom, Ryan Krokstrom, Jake Nett, Mike Curry, Adam Balow and Paul Lecander.
Jane L. Balow was born on Oct. 5, 1966, in Baldwin. She graduated from Stanley High School in 1985. She then earned her B.A. degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and went on to earn her master’s degree in guidance and counseling in 2000. She worked to help youth with their issues at various facilities, including Sunburst Youth Homes in Neillsville, Clark County Department of Social Services, Northern Pines in Cumberland and Lutheran Social Services. Prior to her illness, she very much enjoyed working with her co-workers and clients at Children’s Services Society, Marshfield as a therapist. She was a fun person and had many friends. She considered herself to be the funniest person she knew. She was dedicated to her daughter, Dahlia, the light of her life. She loved her entire family and had a very strong faith in God and the Virgin Mary. She loved to have fun, including "whoo-haas" for her nieces and nephews. She loved all kinds of music and the Green Bay Packers. She also followed the New York Yankees, much to the dismay of her family, who are Brewers and Twins Fans. She married Doug Krokstrom in Marshfield earlier this year. She fought cancer with courage, surrounded by a large family and awesome friends and co-workers. She will be sadly missed by all, but we know she is smiling down on us with the rest of the angels.
She is survived by her husband, Doug; children, Adam Krokstrom, Platteville, Ryan, Jennifer, Alex and Dana Krokstrom, all of Marshfield, and Dahlia Balow-Krokstrom, Marshfield; her parents, William and Alice Gadke, Rice Lake; and her siblings, Guy (Kelly) Balow, Detroit Lake, Minn., Thomas (Jennifer) Balow, Mew Richmond, Ben Balow, Rockford, Minn., Joe (Sharon) Balow, Amery, Donne (Pete) Lecanter, Star Prairie, Marie (Doug) Nett, Rice Lake, Valerie Curry, Rice Lake, and Rosanne (Paul) Snowwhite, Dexter, Mich.
