Sveinsson. Simon  (25 JUNE 1943-15 JUNE 2011)

 

Simon K. "Sam" Sveinsson, 67, Loyal, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, June 20. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. Rev. Jerome Naduvathanmyil officiated. Burial followed in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.

 

Simon Kelly Sveinsson was born on June 25, 1943, in Elmhurst, Ill., the son of Kelly and Beatrice (nee Langois) Sveinsson. He was raised and received his education in Elmhurst, where he graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1961. He married Marilyn W. Stone at the Episcopal Church, in Elmhurst on July 25, 1970. They resided in Elmhurst and he worked as a dispatcher for the Elmhurst Fire Department. He later was employed as a salesperson for Xerox Corporation. They moved to Loyal in 1981, where they resided until Marilyn’s death on Nov. 28, 2001. He entered the Clark County Health Care Center and resided there until the time of his death. He had many interests, but especially enjoyed antique cars and woodworking.

 

Survivors include two sisters, Olive (Walter) Reading, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Joan Sanders, Rockford, Ill; a brother-in-law, John Mayhill, Rockford. Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marilyn; and one sister, Chloe Mayhall.
