Laffe, Fred (7 SEP 1897 - 1 JAN 1946)

Fred Laffe, conductor on an extra loop train, running from Altoona to St. Paul, died suddenly about 10:30 New Year’s morning at Knapp, just as he had coupled the air hose of an extra locomotive which was attached to the train at that station.  Conductor Laffe was a veteran of the First World War, and a military funeral will be held at St. John’s Church in this village at 2:00 o’clock Friday afternoon, and burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.  He was 48 years of age.
