Welzien, Alan R. (19 MAR 1923 - 5 JUL 2011)
LOYAL -- Alan R. Welzien, 88, of Loyal, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011,
at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Loyal. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery
in Withee. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until service
time Friday at the church.
Alan Russell Welzien was born March 19, 1923, in the town of
Reseburg, rural Thorp, the son of Emil and Grace (Mock) Welzien.
After completing his education, Alan went to Grand Rapids, Mich.,
where he was a sheet metal worker. He was united in marriage to
Grace Biddle on Dec. 5, 1945, in Kent, Wash.
Alan was a foreman at Libby Foods in Kent, Wash., before returning
to Thorp in 1948. They moved to Loyal in 1949, and in 1950, Alan
began working as an artificial inseminator for Tri-State Breeders.
He retired in 1985 after 35 years with the company.
He is survived by his wife, Grace, of Loyal; one daughter, Peggy
(Alan) Rohde of Waukesha; two grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
