Zrutskie, Harry G. (19 APR 1917 - 4 JUL 2011)
COLBY -- Harry G. Zrutskie, 94, of Colby passed away on July 4,
2011, at the Colonial Center in Colby with his family by his side.
A private family memorial service will be held. Burial will be in
the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Harry was born April 19, 1917, in the town of Holton to George and
Gusta (Meske) Zrutskie. He attended Rosedale Country School in the
town of Holton. Harry was a cheesemaker for Klessig Cheese Factory,
and for 17 years, he worked for Packaging Corporation of America in
Colby, retiring in 1978 and moving to Unity in 1979.
Harry married Margaret Kocian on June 24, 1939, at Saint Peter
Lutheran Church Parsonage in Dorchester. Harry and Margaret had a
three-piece band where he played the drums, performing throughout
the area. The band was known as Margenarys Melodires.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Colby and also a member
of the Die Hard Chicago Cubs Fan Club. Harry was a great handyman
who could fix almost anything.
He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs baseball team, woodworking and
dancing.
Harry is lovingly survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Terry
(Judith) Zrutskie of Melbourne, Fla., Linda Bruesewitz of
Stratford, Dawn (Terry "Bub") Littleton of Unity and Dusty (Robbin)
Zrutskie of Medford; 10 grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother; four sisters;
great-granddaughter, Zoey; son-in-law, Dennis Bruesewitz; grandson,
Shane; and Pepsi, his beloved dog.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Colonial Center in
Colby for the wonderful care Harry received while he was a resident
there.
