Bogaard, Susan C. (Goldamer) (April 17, 1946 - June 20, 2011)

Susan C. Bogaard, 65, Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family, following a lengthy illness.

Susan was born April 17, 1946, in Marshfield, to Robert and Arletta (Lindau) Goldamer.

She attended Abbotsford Schools, graduating from Dor-Abby High School in 1964. She continued her education at Luther School of Nursing in Eau Claire, graduating in 1967. She worked in hospitals in Eau Claire, until her marriage to William K. Bogaard on January 21, 1970, in Eau Claire, after which they made their home in Wisconsin Rapids. When her children were school age, she returned to her profession by teaching nursing classes at Mid-State Technical College. Later she held various nursing positions, her last ten years with Consolidated Paper Co., retiring in October, 2009.

Sue was a kind-hearted person, who often used her nursing skills to help care for others whenever she saw a need. She enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, reading, walking, and bird-watching at their beautiful lake home. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for family gatherings, entertaining friends, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Susan is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Jeff (Cindy) Bogaard of Burnsville, Minn.; daughter, Julie (Joe) Dietlin of Eden Prairie, Minn,; grandchildren, Alexandra Case, Emily Bogaard, Jack Dietlin, and Tyler Dietlin; her parents, Robert and Arletta Goldamer of Abbotsford; and two brothers, John Goldamer of Abbotsford, and Steve Goldamer of Chanhassen, Minn.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, June 25, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, in Wisconsin Rapids, The Rev. Al Wierzba presided with burial in Pioneer Cemetery, town of Saratoga.

In lieu of flowers, a Registered Nurse student scholarship has been established in her name, at Mid-State Technical College.

There's an open gate at the end of the road
Through which each must go alone,
And there in a light we cannot see,
Our Father claims His own...

Beyond the gate, our loved one
Finds happiness and rest.
And there is comfort in the thought
That a loving God knows best.

Sadly missed by her family, other relatives, and her many friends.
