Clark County Schools Show Improvements

 

Neillsville, Jan. 31—Mrs. Margaret Van Natta, the Clark county superintendent, assisted by the two supervising teachers, Miss Marjorie Hawley and Miss Ada E. Smith, are editing once every six weeks a paper

entitled "Clark County Schools" which is sent to each teacher and the members of each school board in Clark county. The last number, which was printed recently, states that there are 139 rural schools, 13 state graded schools, 10 high schools with grades below, and one union high school, with a total of 284 teachers in Clark county. In order to stimulate and encourage improvements throughout the numerous schools in the county, a  list of improvements are noted in the Clark County school paper each six weeks. The following improvements have been made recently throughout the schools of Clark county:

 

The Curtiss State Graded school has a new "first aid kit."

 

The Sunny Lawn school, town of Withee, has a new set of maps.

 

The Dodgeville school, town of Loyal, has been entirely redecorated throughout and several feet of cork bulletin board has been added.

 

The South Bright school, town of Green Grove, has 21 new single seats, a new "first aid kit," a sand table, and a new set of World books.

 

The North Bright school, town of Green Grove, has a new sand table.

 

The Benjamin school, town of Warner, has refinished the new room  with wall board, which has been painted and put on with varnished strips.

 

The Poppe school, town of Longwood, has a new well-built woodshed.

 

The Worchel school, town of Seif, has the walls and ceiling tinned and redecorated, also a new Victrola with ten new records have been added.

 

The Groveside school, town of Unity, has supplied several feet of wall board for bulletin boards. A new enameled sink with a drain and some new gas lights have also been added.

 

The Plainview school, town of Colby, has completed the set of Elson readers as well as other needed text books. A new drinking fountain has also been added.

 

The Pleasant Ridge school, town of Unity, has a redecorated school room and a new bulletin board and a new outside door has been added.

 

The Poplar Grove school, town of Lynn, has a new Victrola.

 

The Maple Grove school, town of Lynn, has a new roof, a clock, bookcases and a wash bench.

 

The Irving school, town of Washburn, has been repainted on the outside, the walls have been plastered, new storm windows and doors have been added, also new adjustable shades for all of the windows and a new set of maps have been purchased.

 

The South Washburn school, town of Washburn, has a new four-surface hectograph, 36 square feet of new slate  blackboard, and new kerosene wall lamps.

 

The Sunny Nook school, town of Hewett, has newly painted walls and floors, seats varnished, two new bulletin boards, new stove pipe and the stove has been overhauled.

 

The Lincoln school, town of York, , has a new drinking fountain and a new flag.

 

The Rock Creek school, town of Levis, has a new Giant stride.

 

The Maple Ridge school, town of Mead, has some new seats, storm windows, stove for hot lunches and the furnace has been repaired.

 

The Kippenham school, town of Mead, has been newly painted inside and out, and new bulletin boards have been added.

 

The Hiawatha school, town of Pine Valley, has a new wood shed and a large, roomy wood box.

 

The Audabon school, town of Sherwood, has a new fence in front of the school house.

 

The Mothers' club of the Bee Hive school, town of Green 'Grove, has purchased new swings for the playgrounds, dishes and cooking utensils for hot lunches, and the school board is purchasing the needed articles for cooking such as sugar, cocoa, postum and oil.

 

The La Tart school, town of Beaver, has some new equipment for outdoor basketball.
