Sparkes, Mae Edith (? - 1 MAY 1946)

Friends in such numbers that all could not find accommodation in the Methodist Church in this village, attended the funeral services last Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Archie L. Sparkes, who passed away at the Krohn Hospital in Black River Falls Wednesday evening, May 1st, after a brief illness.

The burial services were conducted by Rev. Floyd A. Fahlgren of the Neillsville Methodist Church, who was assisted by the local pastor, the Rev. Edw. J. Sachtjen.  Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Walters sang "In the Garden" and "Rock of Ages," with Miss Simons accompanist.  There were many beautiful flowers, a kind tribute from loving friends.  Pallbearers were Clarence Olson, Walter Smith, Henry Laffe, Willard Waters, Frank Moore, and Earl Pierce.  The Rev. Fahlgren’s sermon subject was "The Christian’s Hope," the living Christ discloses to His saddened followers that these things have to be so that better things many come.  The text was John 14:2, "In My Father’s House are many Mansions."  Burial was in Mentor Cemetery.

Relatives called here to attend the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Shanley of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Theodore McNamara of Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Harry McNamara of Jim Falls; Mrs. Ellen Nolop of Milwaukee; Ralph Sparkes of Kansas City, Kan.; Henry Sparkes of Eldora, Kan.; and a large number of friends from away were present.
