Lucas Gabrovic was born in Homca Na Gorenjskem. He was born on October 5, 1877.
Lucas and his first wife had two children then. They came to America in 1912
with 1 child August, the baby (Amelia was too young to travel so she was left
with an aunt).
In America three more children were born, Lucas, Joe and Marion. August lived in
Riverside, Illinois. He passed away there in 1971. Nora his wife still lives
there. Joseph is retired in Chicago, Lucas lives in Romeoville, Illinois and
Marion Cirone and her husband Bill live in Lantana, Florida. Lucas's first wife
became ill and passed away
Louise Jordan was born on December 29, 1877 in the village of Raski Urk, parish
of Bucka area of Krsko. She came to America in 1912. She met and married Lucas
in Bellville, Illinois. They lived in Harrisburg, Illinois.
Through a realtor Ignac Cesnik they heard of land they could buy. So Lucas and
Louise and the four children from his first wife left for the Willard area.
There they bought 80 acres of timber land and carved a farm out of this timber
land. They had a lot of hard work. The house was built of logs. Part of the
original house still stands but an addition was built on it.
In Willard seven children were born to them: Louise Wren who resides in
Neillsville; Albina Celesnik who resides in Eau Claire; Cecelia Wehrman resides
in Withee; Ignac is farming in the Willard area; Matilda, deceased in 1925; John
resides in Conrath; Jack and his wife reside in Mascoutah, Illinois.
Lucas passed away on November 9, 1943. Louise sola the farm in 1948 and made her
home with her oldest daughter, Louise in Neillsville. She had arthritis which
crippled her joints and was disabled. The disability never changed her sense of
humor. Louise passed away on October 11, 1962.
The family farm is now owned by the Boh family. A parcel of land that was
purchased by the family in later years four miles west of Willard is now owned
by William Bayuk.
