Joy, Emily (13 May 1841 - 13 May 1914)
Last week the Times neglected to chronicle the death of Mrs. Byron Joy, which occurred on May 13th at her home on Hewett Street. Mrs. Joy was born Emily Konkle at Wadsworth, Ohio, on May 13, 1841. Her parents moved to Dodge County, Wis., in 1847, and here she grew to young womanhood. After the death of her mother, the family spent a brief period in Iowa, later returning to Dodge County. In 1860, deceased was united in marriage to Byron Joy and to this union seven children were born, two sons and five daughters, three of the latter having died in youth. The Joy family moved to Minnesota in 1879 where they spent a number of years on a farm until the time came that Mr. and Mrs. Joy desired to cease their labors, and they came to Neillsville to take up their residence. The funeral was held on May 15, at the house, Rev. Bunker of Lake Mills conducting the services. Mrs. Joy was a very estimable lady and was well liked by all her neighbors and acquaintances.
