Gummerson, John W. (? - 18 October 1962)

Clark County authorities said last Thursday that John W. Gummerson, 41, Owen implement dealer and a former member of the Clark County Board of Supervisors had taken his own life.

His body was found in the band shell of Owen’s Memorial Park about 9:30 a.m. Thursday by two Fond du Lac hunters.  The hunters said that they had heard a shot and investigated. Gummerson had a 30-30 rifle bullet in his chest.

Gummerson, the father of three small children, was said to be in ill health and under hospital care during the summer.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from Holy Rosary Church in Owen, with the Rev. H. L. Brubel in charge. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery at Withee.

Surviving are his wife, Caroline; three sons, Noel, Robert and Kurt, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gummerson of Owen; and two brothers, Charles of Chicago and James of Owen.
