ABBOTSFORD MAN HAS VERY UNIQUE KEEPSAKE

In our papers last week we had a short article in which a cash prize was offered for old furniture.

This article stirred up memories of many readers of keepsakes they had nearly forgotten.

Peter Kramer, who now resides in the village of Abbotsford, came to Clark county from Taylor county in 1908, after residing near Medford for twenty years.

Mr. Kramer’s parents came to America from Prussia in 1847 and located with other old-countrymen near Fond du Lac, Wis. The elder Mr. Kramer was a shoemaker by trade and spent much of his time besides farming in making and repairing shoes in the neighborhood.

In 1858 a new last was needed for a pair of shoes and Mr. Kramer made one from a piece of white ash, and the shoes made from this last were the first pair of shoes Peter Kramer ever wore, and he has the last in his possession at the present time.

Have you a keepsake that is more unique than the small last of Mr. Kramer’s?
