He moved with his parents and family to Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1913, and finished his schooling here.  For twenty years or more Mr. Briggs was a faithful and conscientious employee on the railroad.  He was always courteous and cheerful and was well liked by his co-workers.

His parents and one brother, Charlston Max, preceded him in death.  He leaves on sister, Miss Eula Briggs of Humbird, and two brothers, James Keith of Humbird and Allen of Eau Claire, besides a number of other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Rickard Funeral Home in Fairchild, and at the Methodist Church in this village last Friday afternoon, and were attended by a large congregation of friends.  The Rev. Frederick J. Smith of Augusta officiated, using as his text the verse Daniel 12:13, "Go thou thy way till the end be; for thou shall rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days."  There were many beautiful floral pieces.  Mrs. Waters and Mrs. Smith sang "The Old Rugged Cross: and "Rock of Ages," with Miss Simons accompanist.  Pallbearers were John H. Bryner, Harry Iffland, Erwin Kelsh, E.W. Johnson, J.A. Johnson, and R.J. Stuve.  Burial was in Mentor Cemetery.

Among relatives and friends who came from away to attend the services were Allen Briggs and family, Eau Claire; Ted Green and family of Marshfield; Herb Green and family of West Allis; Miss Anna Leiser of Milwaukee; Mrs. Leon Phillips, Fairchild; Willard Fradenburg of Willard; Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Green, who were visiting with their children, returned for the services.
