Heathville (14 January 1910)

Fred Dankemyer will build a frame barn the coming season. August Prust of Chili will do the engineering.

Many of us now miss our blacksmith Delbert Latamore.  He was a good blacksmith and handy at any kind of repair work.

Wm. Zorn is cutting logs, bolts and cord wood and the way the money is tumbling in ain’t slow.

Otto Schmidtke hasn’t kissed his girl in the New Year.  He says there will be some smacking done when he once gets at it.

The cream of society is on top, but it is the skimmed milk that keeps it there.

Patronize the new blacksmith in Chili.

A. F. Dankemyer went to Neillsville last Tuesday on business.

H. Portz of Chili did wood sawing in Heathville last week.

Many narrow minded men wear broadcloth.

Bill Smith says he saw a robbin (robin) last Tuesday. Jap Spry says he is a liar.

Gusta Schmidtke did shopping in Granton last Wednesday.

Miss Maude Rollins is assisting Mrs. Wm. Zorn in her household duties.

It is very gratifying when you’re called to the phone and say hello, and someone will say who is this? Who is this?  It is a sickening question and still it’s often used.  In consequence the person called will hang up until he is called again.  It’s a good deal nicer, kinder and wiser to say is this Mr. or Mrs. so and so, in place of saying, who is this.  For instance if someone would rap at your door, would you say who there or would you kindly invite him into the house.

Ruddie Kelpin has a smile on his face a rod long.  Well if you want to, you can get our horse and cutter most any time.
